Motor Yacht Adastra is a 42.5 metre unique superyacht launched by McConaghy Boats in Zhu Hai, China in 2012. Superyacht Adastra’s exceptional and eye-catching design is a result of more than five years of cooperation between the Owner, the naval architects/exterior designer John Shuttleworth Design Ltd, interior designed Jepson Designs and the shipyard.

The hull of the Adastra is built from glass and Kevlar and can house nine guests and six crewmen. The deck saloon has a panoramic view while the open cockpit has sofas on both sides. The open deck running aft also has a door that hinges out to create a bathing platform.

ADASTRA yacht is a beautiful trimaran yacht with excellent sea keeping qualities, luxurious accommodation complimented by low fuel consumption. The superstructure of Adastra is carbon fibre with Nomex honeycomb core, whereas the hull is Glass/Kevlar foam sandwich. The cabinetry in the interior is light weight oak using honeycomb panels. Virtually every aspect of the boat is custom built, including the carbon fibre hatches, portlights, ladders and even hinges, which are all built specifically for the vessel.

A SiMON2 integrated ship monitoring system monitors fuel, security, pump sensors, electrical, lights, etc. Motor Yacht Adastra has a fully automated fuel management system, including an Alfa Laval system for cleaning the fuel.

Superyacht Adastra also features a unique anchoring system with three anchors driven by carbon fibre winches run by hydraulics. The primary is a custom 130kg Bruce style anchor that deploys out of the startboard wing. The second anchor of 80 kg deploys out of the bow with a carbon fibre arm. A 60 kg third anchor deploys out of the port wing and is used as a stern anchor.

John Shuttleworth designed Yacht ADASTRA offers accommodation to 9 guests in total and has a crew of 5-6 professionals.

She has a 4.9 metre tender stored on the aft deck and a 3.1 m tender stored in the garage. Adastra motoryacht is powered by one main Caterpillar C18 1150ho @2300 rpm engine and twin Yanmar 110hp @ 3200 rpm outrigger engines. Her maximum speed is 22.5 knots and she has a 4000 nautical miles range at a lower speed of 17 knots. M/Y Adastra’s fuel consumption at 13 knots is 90 litres per hour, whereas at a speed of 17 knots it is 120 litres per hour.

Antony Louis Marden is the owner of the trimaran yacht Adastra. Antony Marden is the owner of Fenwick Shipping Services, a shipping company specialized in dry bulk vessels. Fenwick owns 6 vessels and is active in Hong Kong and Australia. Mr Marden is also President of FIM Limited. Fim Limited owns the Manilla based Magsaysay Transport and Logistics Group. Magsaysay is full-container liner shipping and logistics company, which activities include shipmanagement, marine bunkering, marine repairs & services and marine consultancy. In 1988, the Philippines government shipping arm National Marine Corporation( NMC) was privatized and acquired by Magsaysay Lines, Inc. and FIM Holdings HK, Ltd. NMC now forms part of Magsaysay Transport & Logistics Group with several strategic business units directly under its management. Antony Marden’s grand father G.E. Marden founded Marden and Company in 1925 and merged with Thomas Wheelock’s tug company to form the Wheelock and Marden Company in 1932. The company operated ships and tugs in Hong Kong. Later the company diversified from transportation to custom’s clearing, container delivery, warehousing and travelling. The Wheelock and Marden Company was acquired by Hong Kong shipping tycoon Sir Yue-Kong Pao (founder of the World-Wide Shipping Group) in 1985.
