Description

Most radical new yacht 2013 Venus,Design by Phillip Stack and Steve Jobs together.

The “Starck” design melds elements of Dieter Rams and Frank Lloyd Wright.

Venus is a super yacht designed by Philippe Starck’s design company Ubik and built by Feadship for the entrepreneur Steve Jobs. However, Jobs died in October 2011, the yacht was unveiled a year later at a cost of more than โ‚ฌ100 million.
Venus was unveiled on 28 October 2012 at the Feadship shipyard in Aalsmeer in the Netherlands. The yacht was named for the Roman goddess of love. The yacht was impounded on 21 December 2012 at the Port of Amsterdam following a dispute over payment. The designer, Philippe Starck, claimed that Jobs’ heirs owed him โ‚ฌ3 million of his โ‚ฌ9 million fee for the project. The yacht was freed from its Amsterdam dock on 24 December 2012 after Jobs’s estate paid off the last of its bills.

Jobs left the yacht to his wife, Laurene Powell, after his death.Starck spoke about Venus in an interview with French VOGUEย , explaining the yacht houses six bedrooms along with communication systems between the kids’ rooms in the front and the adult quarters in the rear.
Jobs commissioned the ship in 2008, a few years after his first cancer diagnosis. Several summers spent relaxing on friend and fellow businessman Larry Ellison’s yacht convinced Jobs he wanted a boat of his own.
The Apple founder enlisted the expertise of designer Phillippe Starck to create his one-of-a-kind sailing paradise. Additionally, he hired the chief designer of the Apple Stores Mr IVY to make structural glass for the yacht.

Engineering of the futuristic-looking Venus came from Feadshipโ€™s team at De Voogt Naval Architects, and a notable feature is her clever upper deck design that conceals communications and TV receivers.

Notable features of the finished vessel include smooth, all-teak decks, a rear hatch to launch a separate speed boat when a suitable dock isn’t available to go ashore, and a wheelhouse powered by seven 27″ iMacs.

A tablet or phone can control the navigational systems on the yacht and passenger comforts such lights or heating.
