The yacht Katara is one of the World’s largest yachts. She is built by Lurssen en was delivered to her owner, the Emir of Qatar, in 2010. She was designed by Espen Oeino with an interior design by Alberto Pinto. Not much is known about her interior, but from one of the photo’s hereunder it can be concluded that her main deck saloon has a height of two decks. The yacht has a length of 124 meters (408 ft), making her the 14th largest yacht in the world, although measured by volume, she would rank much higher. She has gross tonnage of 7922t and can reach a max speed of 20 knots. The superyacht is registered in Doha, Qatar.

On the map drawn by the geographer Claudius Ptolemaeus in 150 AD showed the geographical location of Qatar Peninsula under the name of Catara. The name “Katara” first appeared in geographical and historical maps in the early eighteenth century. Later the name was written “Katara” instead of “Catara”
