Serguéi Brin, co-founder of Google, is set to replace his well-known 73-meter Dragonfly with a magnificent new superyacht that doubles its size, known as Project AliBaba. 🏗️ Despite not yet setting sail, its logbook is already filled with captivating anecdotes.

Project AliBaba: Brin’s “Eventful” Megayacht 🚢

The esteemed manufacturer Lürssen is renowned for producing some of the world’s largest yachts, and one of its latest masterpieces is AliBaba, valued at + $450 million. Although the superyacht hasn’t been delivered yet, it already boasts a fascinating backstory.

Originally, its owner was not Serguéi Brin, but billionaire Leonid Mikhelson, a Russian gas industry magnate with an estimated fortune of $27.4 billion. Due to international sanctions affecting Russian wealth, the completion of Project AliBaba’s purchase was halted, allowing Serguéi Brin to step in and acquire the yacht.

🚤 Dragonfly is an impressive motor yacht with an overall length of 142 m! 🌊 Built by Lürssen Yachts in Germany, this stunning superyacht was launched in 2024.

📏 With a beam of 20 m, a draught of 5.85 m, and a volume of 9,408 GT, Dragonfly truly stands out in the world of luxury yachts. ✨

🎨 The exterior design is crafted by German Frers, while the elegant interiors are designed by Nauta Yachts S.r.l. The naval architecture is also a masterpiece from Lürssen Yachts.

⚓ Dragonfly features a robust steel hull and a sleek aluminium superstructure. She is powered by 2 MAN engines, allowing her to reach an impressive top speed of 24 knots! 🚀

Launched officially in December 2023, Project AliBaba was inadvertently revealed when a technical mishap at the Bremen shipyard forced the yacht’s bow into the dock curtain. Early images showcase a sleek grey profile, elongated bow, and bold exterior lines across four decks. Further details of the project remain closely guarded. 📸
